Get Involved!
The Patient, Client, and Partners Council (PCPC) is a group of volunteers that ensures users of health care are at the center of conversations and decisions about healthcare. It is made up of patients, clients, caregivers, families and peers.
Anyone is welcome to join! No matter your age, sex, gender, race, health stage, occupation, or location across Hastings Prince Edward Counties.
Your experience with the health care system is important to us. Have your voice heard and be involved in designing solutions at decision-making tables.
What’s the Commitment?
The PCPC meets once a month for 90 minutes. We ask members to attend these meetings.
Beyond that, there are two different ways to get involved:
The HPE OHT also has Action Teams and working groups. These groups meet to focus on improving different parts of the health system. PCPC members can join these groups, based on their interest. Participation in these meetings gives members a chance to share their experiences and help shape the future of care in our region.
Another way for PCPC members to be involved is to participate in more action-oriented time-limited projects and in helping to engage and inform the public about the system of healthcare and social services in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Is this for me?
Reflect on the following questions to help guide you to a decision:
- Is it important to you that your voice is heard as the healthcare system and those who work within it, make changes and improvements to healthcare in our region?
- Why are you considering becoming a member of the PCPC? What do you hope is the benefit to you?
- Are you committed to working constructively alongside staff and leaders involved in our local healthcare system in finding “what’s possible”?
- Healthcare is a complex landscape. There are rarely any ‘quick and easy’ solutions. Can you be both patient and persistent in helping contribute toward solutions that work for everyone?
- Some conversations and meeting topics may be confidential. Will you be comfortable respecting confidentiality where it is needed, and asking when you are not sure about the sensitivity of a topic?
- For now, most meetings are held virtually (meaning via Zoom or MS Teams) using your computer (PC, laptop, iPad). Are you comfortable with this ‘virtual’ way of meeting? (Basic technical support will be provided)
